You Can Still Fly in Dallas
The secret to any successful city is a simple one. If you have a bustling downtown, chances are your city is the place to be. Dallas, of course, has a downtown worthy of enshrinement, as do most major cities in Texas. A strong city is supported by an even stronger downtown. When those two are clicking on all cylinders, the surrounding suburbs also reap the benefits, as some Americans enjoy a combination of suburban quietness and urban hustle.
Downtown Dallas is in the process of becoming even better and bigger due to Craig Hall and his new Arts District office tower – KPMG Plaza. In a recent press conference, John Crawford of Downtown Dallas Inc. spoke to over a hundred business leaders regarding the evolution of Downtown Dallas, citing recent developments such as the convention center hotel, Arts District venues, Klyde Warren Park and Hall’s masterwork, declaring that, “Dallas is still a place where horses can fly,” as quoted in this article by Dmagazine.com.
That’s quite the affirmative statement and one that area residents should take pride in. While conditions in other areas of the country are slightly improving, in some not at all, Dallas and all of Texas for that matter is successfully chugging along, proving that the American Dream is still going strong.
The Arts District office tower is a beautifully mammoth high-rise, comprised of 18-stories and around 500,000 square feet. Tenants are already lining up in droves and although the project is expected to be complete sometime around spring of 2015, it is mostly leased out. So far, it will house Hall’s group KPMG, Jackson Walker and UMB Bank, not to mention restaurants and other businesses.
Hall and Dallas are kindred spirits, as both are consumed by a never-wavering sense of ambition. Hall, perhaps, says it best, “I remember times when I’d be down and out and I’d think, ‘I’m going to show everybody. I’m going to have a successful life.’” It’s that kind of can-do attitude that Texans love and the model that all Americans should follow, especially during these crazy times.
