Most of what we install is horizontal lap siding, the classic look on North Texas homes, finished with Hardie trim so the whole wall is the same material and wears at the same rate. We also install Hardie shingle siding for gables and accent walls, and Hardie soffit.
Siding is only the outside layer. When we re-side, the wall gets Tyvek house wrap first, with the seams taped with Tyvek tape. Windows get taped, and the wrap is taped in around them. That's what keeps water out of the wall if rain ever gets behind a board. It's also the part you'll never see again once the siding is up, which is why it's worth asking any contractor how they do it.
James Hardie sells its siding two ways: factory-painted, which it calls ColorPlus, and primed for painting. We install primed Hardie and paint it on site. It costs less, you can have any color you want, and the caulk joints and cut ends get painted along with everything else. We don't install ColorPlus.
Our painters use Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint and put it on heavy. More on our exterior painting.
James Hardie publishes installation requirements: how far the siding has to stay off the roof and the ground, how joints are handled, how it's nailed, where flashing goes. Follow them and the 30-year siding warranty stands. Skip them and it may not. We follow them.
You don't have to re-side the whole house. If one wall takes the weather, or the chimney siding is what's failing, we'll replace that and match it to the rest. No siding job is too small to call about.

When a project requires a city permit, we take care of it, including scheduling the inspection.
No. You pay nothing to start. Fifty percent is due once the necessary carpentry is complete, and the remaining balance is due after the work is finished and any final inspection passes.
